Tijeras Arroyo Golf Course and the Kirtland Bowling Center are offering discounts for employees who have been furloughed. During the 11-week period, employees can enjoy complimentary bowling and golf.

"We were looking for a way to host an open house for furloughed personnel and give them a chance to try out some of our facilities," said Ken Riggins, 377th Force Support Squadron.

The golf course offers 10 complimentary rounds of golf. Those who bring a furlough letter will receive a punch card for 10 free rounds of golf. The punch card can be used any time between July 9 and Sept. 21.

"We have had 206 people sign up so far, and 90 percent of them haven't used the golf course before," Riggins said. "It's been a great way to open their eyes to what's available on base, and we hope it will bring them back after the furlough weeks."

The bowling center is offering a similar deal. Employees who bring their furlough letter to the center will receive a punch card for 10 free rounds of bowling. Employees and a guest will get shoe rental and three games.

The punch card will expire Sept. 22.
