Base members encouraged to take transportation survey Published Dec. 12, 2013 By 377th Air Base Wing Public Affairs KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The Mid-Region Council of Governments is starting the 2040 Metropolitan Transportation Plan, Futures 2040. An essential part of the plan is learning what people think of transportation today and how it should serve us in the future. This plan looks at travel in the central New Mexico region from southern Sandoval County (Algodones, Rio Rancho, Corrales) to all of Bernalillo and Valencia counties. The plan, which is updated every four years, also looks at the challenges and issues on the horizon over the next few decades. Key factors used to develop this plan include regional goals, projected population, job growth, transportation demand and public input. MRCOG wants to hear about people's experiences traveling by car, train, bus, bicycle, and walking. Members of the base community are encouraged to provide their perspective by taking the public questionnaire by Dec. 20. You can visit the project's website, follow the project on Facebook, or request a presentation and discussion session. If you have any questions or concerns, contact Julie Luna at jluna@mrcog-nm.gov or 505-724-3639.
