KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- In a tour of military facilities in the west, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel stopped at Kirtland Air Force Base Jan. 8 to thank troops and defense workers for their service and dedication.

Hagel visited the base and Sandia National Laboratories, where he toured facilities and received briefings on the modernization, safety and security of the United States nuclear weapons programs.
