Those who have been waiting for the pool to reopen won't have to wait much longer. Kirtland's indoor pool, which has been closed since November, is scheduled to reopen March 17.

"We're excited to reopen, the pool is looking good and we're starting our classes back up," said Kate Davis, pool manager.

Reopening the pool was only made possible by Air Force funds that were recently assigned to the program, she said. That money was used to hire lifeguards.

The new hours will be 6 to 11 a.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The outdoor pool is planned to open Memorial Day weekend.

There will be water aerobic classes from 9 to 10 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for $3 per class. There will be an adult swim class for ages 18 and over at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. The class will be $2 for active duty and $5 for civilians. There will also be swimming lesson in April, but dates are not yet available, Davis said. For more information, call 846-5485.
