Summer Bash, like many other activities at Kirtland, brings families together to create special memories.

This will be a day-long event of fun, entertainment and must-see exhibits. There will be a car show, vendors, aircraft displays and bouncy castles for kids. With over 5,000 people expected to attend, this could be Kirtland's event of the year.

"The Summer Bash Committee has worked hard to provide an awesome event for the Kirtland community and their families, with fun for everyone from corner to corner of Hardin Field," said Joni VanMeir, director of Outdoor Recreation. "There will be no shortage of things to do, explore, purchase and not to mention the multiple food items to try."

Summer Bash will host exhibits from local pet adoption agencies, the Wounded Warrior's Project, educational displays and more. There will also be displays from security forces, the fire department, explosive ordinance disposal and the New Mexico Museum of Military History.

Another attraction will be the Show of Force Power Vehicle Show, which features race cars with Air Force themes, including CV-22, HH-60, and UH-1 vehicles as well as motorcycles and other vehicles.

Summer Bash will be on Aug. 8 at Hardin Field. Because parking around Hardin Field is extremely limited the official parking area for Summer Bash will be at the Base Chapel. Distinguished visitor, motorcycle, sponsor and handicap parking will be available on 5th Street.
