KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The Federal Employees Health Benefits Open Season is upon us. This is the time that Air Force civilian employees are authorized to enroll in an FEHB health plan through open enrollment or make changes to their health insurance benefits.
The FEHB Open Season runs from Nov. 10 to Dec. 8. During the annual Open Season, employees can take the actions for the FEHB Program, the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program and the Federal Flexible Spending Account Program.
During this period, the following actions may be accomplished:
· Enroll in, change, or cancel an existing enrollment in a dental plan under the FEDVIP.
· Enroll in, change, or cancel an existing enrollment in a vision plan under the FEDVIP.
· Enroll in, change, or cancel an existing enrollment in a health plan under the FEHB program.
· Enroll in a flexible spending account -- a health care and/or dependent care account, under the FSAFEDS program. Unlike with other programs, employees MUST reenroll in FSAFEDS each year to participate. Enrollments do not carry over from year to year.
The annual FEHB Open Season Benefits Fair is Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Consolidated Support Building, Bldg 20245, Room 120. Health Benefits provider representatives will be available to answer questions and discuss any upcoming changes for 2015
All federal civil service employees are authorized to attend the fair during duty hours, but they are required to be excused by their supervisors in advance. Further information regarding the FEHB Open Season Benefits Fair and Open Season will be provided from Civilian Personnel through your individual organizations.
Health benefits representatives provide individual customer service through their monthly visits to Kirtland. These customer service visits are made on the first Tuesday of each month from February to October to provide information and answer employee questions about their health benefits plans.
The monthly events with Federal Health Benefits Plan representatives are sponsored by the Civilian Personnel Office. Employees who receive permission from their supervisors, in advance, may attend without charge to leave.
