The annual Kirtland Technology Expo is returning to the base Oct. 28. It will feature dozens of companies and a wide range of services.

The event has taken place each year since 2000. This year, technology in the areas of telecommunications, radio communications, cloud computing, IT training, network management and more will be present. Companies including
Aerotech, Canon, IBM, Plantronics and many others are participating.

Event manager Kate Ratcliffe said the annual expo helps to start dialog between  the military and private sector.

"These in-agency events are important," she said. "... (The Kirtland Technology Expo) has created a forum in which the industry and military can learn from each other and help create technologies that will help with missions."

She added that while this type of event is staged at numerous Air Force installations, the Kirtland event is tailored to the base on the basis of feedback from the community.

"We ask for input from all the units and organizations on base, and from there we create an event that is completely mission-centric for Kirtland," Ratcliffe said.

The expo will go from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 28 at the Mountain View Club. Those with base access, including military members, civilians and contractors, are welcome to come to the free event. There will also be free refreshments and giveaways, while supplies last.
