CFW wins fourth consecutive intramural title Published Dec. 9, 2014 By Kendahl Johnson 377th Air Base Wing Public Affairs KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE -- The "CFW" captured the base flag football championship for a fourth consecutive year. The CFW takes its name from where the players are from: the Comptroller Squadron, Force Support Squadron and Wing Staff Agencies. The team went 10-1 during the regular season, swept through the playoffs and then bested the Weapons Systems Security Squadron in the finals. In the final game, things did not look promising early on. After a giving up a safety and a touchdown, the CFW found themselves in an early deficit. But a deep bomb just before halftime from quarterback Staff Sgt. Jeff Bryan to Gregory gave the team a 12-10 lead. The team never looked back. An interception returned for a touchdown by Bryan, followed by Gregory's second touchdown of the game increased the lead to 24-10 late in the game. WSSS made a late touchdown and two-point conversion, but it was too little, too late. CWF won, 24-18. Senior Airman Warren Gregory, CFW captain who has been with the team for all four championships, said hoisting the trophy with his team was a great feeling. "Winning four consecutive titles is a rare accomplishment and something to be proud of," he said.
