Kirtland Spouses' Club will be spreading cheer this holiday season in the form of cookies.

The KSC is hoping to fill plates with more than 6,500 cookies this year, and is asking community members to help by donating homemade cookies.

The cookie drive is an annual event sponsored by the spouses' club, where donated home-baked cookies are packaged and delivered to Kirtland's dorm residents, as well as Airmen working in units with 24-hour operations. First sergeants help make the deliveries to their Airmen.

"These cookies are a small token of appreciation for our Airmen," said Kim Miller, Key Spouse Mentor for the 377th Air Base Wing. "It's a wonderful way to say 'happy holidays' to our dorm residents here on base, and each year they are so appreciative."

Kirtland houses more than 500 Airmen in unaccompanied housing, and each will receive an individually wrapped treat package at their door. Platters will also be left in the dayrooms for the entire buildings to share.

"This is an awesome event and something I am so proud to be a part of," Miller said.

Members of the KSC will be available to accept cookie donations at the Mountain View Club Dec. 15 from 4 to 6 p.m. and Dec. 16 from 6:30 to 11 a.m. to accept cookie donations from the community. They are also seeking volunteers to help assemble the cookie plates.

For more information or to volunteer to help with the project, email KirtlandSC@gmail.com, or simply stop by the Mountain View Club with your cookie donations.
