Name: Senior Airman Jarrett Parker

Unit: 377th Maintenance Squadron

Duty Title: Weather forecaster

Hometown: Columbia, S.C.

Goals: Finish bachelor's degree in information technology at Southern New Hampshire University. Receive an officer's commission and eventually obtain master's and PhD and pursue a career as a software developer.

Accomplishments: Parker has been stationed at Kirtland since January 2014.  He forecasts weather in support of 23,000 base personnel.  He also issues weather watches, warnings and advisories for the base.  Additionally, his duties support the 58th Special Operations Wing; providing mission execution forecasts to pilots, aiding in their training. These mission execution forecasts cover more than 226,000 square miles. Parker is also the 377th MXS Booster Club president. He is involved in both the base and local community. Parker was a member of the 2014 Balloon Fiesta forecasting team which briefed 538 pilots, event launch officials and the Albuquerque Journal on wind restrictions.
