KSC awarding scholarships for the 2015 school year Published March 6, 2015 By Kirtland Public Affairs KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- The Kirtland Spouses' Club is awarding college scholarships to dependents of eligible members of the Armed Forces. Scholarships will be given to those currently stationed at Kirtland or those whose sponsor moved to another duty station during the 2014-15 academic school year, but the dependent remained here. All applicants must reside within a 50-mile radius of Kirtland, must have a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale and must have been accepted at an accredited college, university or vocational school on a full-time basis for the fall of 2015. A 500 word essay on the topic "How has your association with a military member impacted your life so far, and how do you expect it will impact your life in the future?" An application must accompany all essays, and the deadline for postmark is no later than March 30. Completed packages may also be dropped off at the KSC Thrift Shop, located across from the base bowling center, Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Each year, many students supplement their college tuition with scholarship money provided by the Kirtland Spouses' Club. The club raises money throughout the year at their resale Thrift Shop, at fundraising events, and through generous contributions to their scholarship fund. Graduating high school seniors, spouses and continuing education students may be eligible.
