Expo gives NM youth insight into aerospace career field

KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --  About a thousand New Mexico youth gathered at Kirtland for the New Mexico Aviation Aerospace Career Expo Sept. 24.

The New Mexico Air National Guard partnered with the New Mexico Aviation Aerospace Association to host the event to provide mid-school through college age participants an opportunity to meet and engage with today's New Mexico's aviation and aerospace industry leaders and higher education representatives.

The expo educates attendees with information on careers in the aviation and aerospace industry. Youth were able to explore and interact with advanced aviation and aerospace equipment.

The event also emphasized the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics through a direct hands-on interaction with industry leaders, higher education institutions with aviation programs, flight training schools, military displays and numerous military and civilian aircraft.
