Base personnel will give short, inspirational speeches on various topics with hopes of inspiring and motivating Kirtland personnel.

The presentations are called Kirtland Talks, patterned after the popular "TED Talks" which is an acronym for Technology, Entertainment, and Design. The goal of TED Talks, as well as Kirtland Talks, is to share ideas worth spreading.

The talks will be June 8 at the 377th Air Base Wing Presentation Center. The two sessions are open to anyone with base access, one at 8 a.m. and one at 11 a.m.  There will be a third session June 24 at 11 a.m. for 377th ABW personnel.  Attendance at any of the three sessions will count as a "Wingman Activity" for 377 ABW personnel.

"It's not PowerPoint driven; we're providing an innovative way to deliver information," said Teresa Reinhard, community support coordinator. "The presenters have chosen creative ways to deliver useful and valuable information."

Reinhard said the theme is personal responsibility and growth, and the format provides an opportunity to provoke deep thought.

There will be four talks featured at each session, each about 20 minutes long.

Capt. Joye Henrie, installation suicide prevention program manager, will deliver a speech called "Going Home." It will focus on early help seeking behavior and grounding ourselves.

Chaplain (Capt.) Andy Peck's presentation is called the "Power of Porn." He will discuss how pornography can damage or even destroy relationships.

"Why I Hate My Job" is the title of Steve Gontis's talk. He will discuss how hating your job is a personal choice, and how these feelings can be changed by altering your thinking.

Col. Jeffrey White, 377th Medical Group commander, will offer a talk called "A Personal Story." It's about how he sought help from mental health for PTSD, and how it impacted his life and career.

An additional offering will be featured on the 24 June presentation.  A1C Tyrice Davis , 377 MDSS, will deliver a talk called, "Experiencing Your Pathway", about his experience with Leadership Pathways.

"Each of the presenters has learned something that has positively affected their lives, and they want to share it," Reinhard said. "They are passionate about their topics."
