Myers Air Force Nuclear Weapons Counterproliferation Agency KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, New Mexico -- An Air Force Nuclear Weapons and Counterproliferation Agency civilian, Sofia A. Woyak, retired after 31 years of federal civil service in a ceremony at the agency April 26. Ms. Woyak, a budget analyst for the agency, received the Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award in acknowledgement of sustained excellence throughout her career. Ms. Woyak began her career in the federal civilian service in July 1962 at the Ballistic System Division, Norton AFB, Calif., as a clerk stenographer. In 1967, she began a 12-year hiatus for duties as a full-time homemaker. Ms. Woyak returned to government service in January 1980, again at Norton, where she served in a number of positions, with each providing a promotion. Entering the finance career field in April 1994, she served in the budget division at the Air Force Flight Test Center at Edwards AFB, Calif. Later assignments included work with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service Accounting Center, the Defense Logistic Agency, the U.S. Attorney's Office and the U.S. Marshals Service. Ms. Woyak joined AFNWCA in December 2003 as a budget analyst where she served until her retirement from federal civil service is official in May 2007. She performed budget execution in an environment of shrinking funds and performed in a role supporting the implementation and maintenance of classified networks supporting the Global War on Terror.
