Now is the time to prepare for the 2007 Air Force Marathon to be held Sept. 15 at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. This Air Force event began in 1997 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Air Force.

The 26.2-mile-long run is held annually at the birthplace of aviation. It traverses many scenic areas of Wright-Patterson and includes some challenging hills.

Race officials will have water, electrolyte fluids and snacks at every mile, as well as medical expertise. Along the course, base organizations "adopt-a-mile" and provide support to the runners with entertainment.

This year is the 11th anniversary of the race. The Kirtland Flyer's have had runners compete since the inaugural race. An estimated 3,500 runners from around the world participated in last year's race.
