Girl Scout book drive benefits children with cancer

Girl Scout Megan Grevin is holding a book drive on behalf of the University of New Mexico Hospital's Children's Pediatrics Center.

The daughter of Lt. Col. Tammy Grevin of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, she is collecting new and used books for their children's library and for their cancer treatment centers. New books are given to children undergoing chemotherapy at the end of each treatment. The used books are put into the libraries for use during visits and for those children staying in the hospital.

Ms. Grevin's goal is to get 1,000 books donated by the end of this month. So far, she has collected 378 books. She is doing this project to earn the Silver Award, the highest award given to a Girl Scout cadette.

To donate books, call her at 681-9493, her home at 796-9412 or e-mail her at zodiac_girl_04@yahoo.com. She can pick up the books from any location.
