Inspection Agency earns 6th Air Force Organizational Excellence Award
Presenting the Air Force Organizational Excellence Award to the Air Force Inspection Agency, Kirtland AFB, N.M., is Maj. Gen. Jeffrey M. Musfeldt (left), the deputy inspector general of the Air Force, on Aug. 28. Col. Michael J. Kingsley, AFIA commander, accepts the award. Chief Master Sgt. John A. Harrison, AFIA's senior enlisted representative, is the guidon bearer. This is the agency's sixth AFOEA in its 16-year history. The Air Force cited AFIA for achievements in a number of areas, including more than $55 million in cost avoidance and improved combat readiness thanks to its assessments, inspections and consultancy; improving accreditation procedures for clinics; implementing a new mission to oversee and analyze trends in nuclear surety inspections; and revamping TIG Brief magazine, the Air Force's oldest publication. Activated in 1991, AFIA traces its origins to 1927 with the establishment of the Inspection Division under the chief of the Army Air Corps. U.S. Air Force photo by John Clendenin
