The Albuquerque Veterans Affairs Medical Center was renamed in a Rededication Ceremony June 7 to honor Raymond G. Murphy.

Mr. Murphy received the Medal of Honor for heroism in Korea. He worked for the Albuquerque Veterans Benefits Administration for over 20 years and was a volunteer at the VA Medical Center for more than eight.

A statue was also dedicated in his honor and was commissioned by the Perot Foundation. Ross Perot was on hand for the dedication as was the sculptor, Reynaldo Rivera.

Also in attendance were members of New Mexico's congressional delegation and many guests. The day was declared Raymond G. Murphy Day by the governor.
