Kirtland Speakers Bureau re-energizes

  • Published
The Kirtland Air Force Base Public Affairs office is re-energizing the Kirtland Speakers Bureau. This program is designed to pool together volunteer speakers to help tell the Air Force story to our civilian counterparts in the local community.

The Public Affairs office receives numerous requests each month for military members to speak to schools, clubs and various organizations about what's going on in the Air Force and at Kirtland. Topics range from the Air Force and Kirtland's mission to experiences overseas and daily operations. It's important for Kirtland to support these requests because the more the community knows what we're doing and understands the importance of our mission, the more public support and involvement increases.

One of Public Affairs' goals is to maintain the Air Force's reputation as a good neighbor. Air Force professionals who are involved in the communities where they live become the front-line ambassadors for the Air Force. To help foster that involvement, all active-duty military members and Department of Defense civilians are encouraged to consider becoming members of the Kirtland Speakers Bureau.

All members will receive e-mail notifications for speaking opportunities, including the topic, date, time and place of the event. Members can volunteer for whichever events fit their schedule and pertain to topics they feel comfortable speaking on. This is a great opportunity to get volunteer experience, practice public speaking and increase the community's awareness of what we do on a daily basis.

Anyone interested in volunteering to be a member of the Kirtland Speakers Bureau should e-mail DJ Babbitt, 377th Air Base Wing public affairs, at danielle.babbitt@kirtland.af.mil. Please include your name, organization and phone number in the e-mail. A consolidated list of names will then be used for future speaker notifications. If you have any questions, call the Public Affairs office at 846-5991.
