Special leave accrual sell back clarified Published Sept. 9, 2008 KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, New Mexico -- A provision in the 2008 National Defense Authorization Act allows an additional one-time special leave accrual sell back for enlisted service members who desire to sell back up to 30 days of SLA. With the operations-tempo today's Airmen are faced with, this is a unique opportunity for members to sell back excess leave accrued instead of losing it. The new law requires a member to have in excess of 120 days of leave in order to be eligible to sell any leave. It will count toward the member's career cap of 60 days. This one-time option only applies when the member would lose accumulated leave in excess of 120 days. Eligible members may report to the Military Personnel Flight's customer service section. They will initiate contact with Defense Finance and Accounting Service to ensure proper updates are completed. The new leave policy is retroactive to Jan. 28, the date of NDAA enactment. Call Capt. Johnathan B. Zulauf, MPF commander, at 846-8979 or Master Sgt. Stephen Cunningham at 846-3999 for more information.
