Gen. Norton A. Schwartz, Air Force Chief of Staff, announced Sept. 26 that Kirtland AFB had won the Air Force Innkeeper Award for the large base category and Aviano Air Base, Italy for small base.

General Schwartz said that teams from the Air Force Services Agency staff visited the major command nominees evaluating each operation using an extensive 30-page checklist covering customer service, housekeeping, financial and facility management, services and related support activities.

The evaluators also select nominees from among military and civilian lodging team members who exemplify the highest standards of professionalism, attitude, customer service and job knowledge for the Innkeeper Travelers Award. Jeffrey Willie from Kirtland AFB was one of those nominees.

Trophies for the two winning bases and the Innkeeper Traveler Award will be presented at the International Hotel/Motel and Restaurant Show in New York City on Nov. 8.

All Innkeeper Traveler Award nominees are invited to attend as the winners will be announced at that time.
