Kirtland Shines in No-Notice NSI

The Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center here underwent a no-notice Nuclear Surety Inspection last week and received the highest overall grade given: SATISFACTORY!

This was the first-ever no-notice inspection conducted by the Air Force Materiel Command and validated the center's ability to ensure safe, secure and reliable nuclear weapons systems to support the National Command Structure and the Air Force warfighter.

"There's no doubt our mission is critical to the Nation and a top priority for the Air Force," said Brig. Gen. Everett Thomas, AFNWC commander. "The men and women of the 498th Armament Systems Wing and 377th Air Base Wing should be very proud of what they've accomplished -- I certainly am. My hat's off to them and their ability to conduct our mission with professionalism each and every day."

The last NSI conducted on the AFNWC was in June.
