Kirtland AFB Swine Flu update, April 28, 8 a.m. Published April 28, 2009 KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, New Mexico -- Swine Flu update, April 28 The total number of confirmed Swine Flu cases in the United States rose yesterday to 40 (still in only 5 states). All are fully recovered. There are currently no confirmed cases in New Mexico. The World Health Organization raised its pandemic influenza phase to 4, which means that there are small clusters (groups of infected individuals) with some limited human-to-human transmission of the virus. The virus spread is highly localized, suggesting that the virus is not well adapted to humans. To obtain updated information on the Swine Flu situation, refer to the Swine Flu tab at www.kirtland.af.mil or go to the DOD Pandemic Influenza Watchboard at http://fhp.osd.mil/aiWatchboard/.
