Brig. Gen. Djuric joins cadets on a visit to the Directed Energy Directorate

The Air Force Research Laboratory's Directed Energy Directorate here hosted the Air Force Junior ROTC cadets in four rotations during June and July 2009.

The cadets were participating in the Air Force Junior ROTC Aerospace and Technology Honors Camps being held in Albuquerque, N.M.

For the final rotation, Brig. Gen. Teresa A.H. Djuric joined 60 of the cadets for the directorate's briefing and tours. General Djuric is the commander, Jeanne M. Holm Center for Officer Accessions and Citizen Development, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. Among other duties, she leads 110,000 cadets in 884 high schools supporting Air Force Junior ROTC. 

General Djuric praised the laboratory for the science and technology-oriented briefing and tours given to these cadets who are in the top one half of one percent of Air Force Junior ROTC students across the nation. 

General Djuric said, though not a recruiting tool, 14 percent of Air Force Junior ROTC cadets become commissioned officers. The purpose of this annual event is to expose Air Force Junior ROTC cadets to the possibilities of science and space-related careers.
