Barbara Steinbock, a contracting officer with the Air Force Research Laboratory's Directed Energy Directorate contracting division, retires this month with more than 50 years of government service.

Mrs. Steinbock started her career in 1958 in contracting at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. She moved to Kirtland AFB, N.M. in 1986 and has been here ever since.

"I started as a clerk at Wright-Patterson AFB and worked my way up through the ranks, making steady progress, reaching the position I now hold" Mrs. Steinbock said of her career.

"I've worked at major command, base-level, and research and development contracting. I've really enjoyed it. I've met and worked with some wonderful folks; it's been fun," she said.
Mrs. Steinbock plans to travel, work around the house and yard and spend time with her husband who has been retired for eight years.
