"This year's fair will include a variety of job opportunities at Kirtland AFB and in other federal agencies in the Albuquerque area," said Mr. Thomas Berardinelli, Executive Director, 377th Air Base Wing. Besides the various job information booths, personnel specialists will be available to provide instructions on navigating through USAJobs, the official website for all federal government vacancies. Additionally, "How to Write a Resume" and "Interview Techniques" classes will be available throughout the day for job seekers. Mr. Cyrus Salazar, Director of the Kirtland AFB Equal Opportunity office, said, "This is a great event for people in and around Albuquerque to obtain information about potential job opportunities at Kirtland, as well as learn about the process for obtaining a federal job." Besides the job fair, base and chamber officials have also expanded their partnership to include information on contracting opportunities at Kirtland. On July 28, Kirtland officials will provide an Acquisition Information Session Briefing to the Hispano Chamber of Commerce members. Mr. Peter Weber, Director of Business Operations, explained the purpose of the briefing is to "provide an overview of the basics of doing business with Kirtland, as well as providing information on small business set-asides and information tools." Although this is the first presentation of its kind to the Chamber, Kirtland AFB officials hope to continue similar outreach on a regular basis. Another initiative launched recently is the USAJobs 101 Workshop. The first workshop will be July 21, 9 a.m. to noon at AHCC Barelas Economic Opportunity Center. Future events will be the third Wednesday of each month. The three-hour workshop will provide technical assistance with the online application process and tips on composing resumes for federal civilian job vacancies. "Last year's job fair was a huge success and we are excited about these new workshops and this year's fair. We look forward to other opportunities to partner with Kirtland in the future," said Mr. Alex Romero, president and CEO, Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce.
