Kirtland NCO wins Lance P. Sijan award Published Jan. 7, 2011 By Stefan T. Bocchino 377th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Kirtland Air Force Base, NM -- Senior Master Sgt. Brett B. Rogers, former superintendent of the 377th Explosive Ordnance Disposal flight, won the senior noncommissioned officer Lance P. Sijan award for 2010 at the Air Force level. The award covered the time from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010. During part of that time, Sergeant Rogers was deployed to Iraq, where he executed more than 300 combat missions. At Kirtland Air Force Base, he managed operations, resources, deployments and training for 19 Airmen in the EOD flight -- overseeing more than $4.2 million worth of equipment. In addition to his normal duties, Sergeant Rogers was also active in his community. "This is a well-deserved award for Chief Master Sgt. (select) Brett Rogers," said Mr. Brent Wilson, 377th Civil Engineer. "He was a fantastic leader and motivator for the Kirtland EOD team during his tour at Kirtland AFB, and will continue as a great Air Force leader in his future assignments." Sergeant Rogers recently transferred from Kirtland AFB to Incirlik Air Base in Turkey.
