Two Team Kirtland senior master sergeants have been selected for promotion to chief master sergeant.

William McGregor, 58th Maintenance Squadron, and Richard L. Moody, 58th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, are the base's newest selectees for the top enlisted rank.

Chief Master Sgt. V. Lee Thompson, command chief of the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, 377th Air Base Wing and 498th Nuclear Systems Wing at Kirtland Air Force Base, put the selection in perspective.

"To be selected for chief master sergeant is a great milestone in an enlisted Airman's career. Only 1 percent of our enlisted force is given that opportunity to lead at the strategic level and be called 'Chief.' For our selects, it is an accomplishment that instills a great sense of pride, and with that comes much greater responsibility and decision-making at the highest levels," he said.
