Airmen can use the Hometown News Release program to publicize their accomplishments in hometown media outlets.

The HTNR can be used by Military members, enlisted and civilians. Military members can use the program to notify their local media about events such as graduation from military training, promotions, permanent changes of station, awards and decorations as well as retirements and other significant events. Civilians can use the program for awards, decorations, graduation from military schools and other significant events.

Kirtland Air Force Base Airmen can visit www.kirtland.af.mil and in the center of the page under spotlights, click on the Hometown News Release link. There is information on the page about the HTNR program and a link to DD Form 2266. Fill out the form and then e-mail it to 377abw.pa@kirtland.af.mil. Public Affairs will review the form and contact the person if additional information is needed. Then the form will be sent to the Defense Media Activity who will send it out to appropriate media outlets.

The program has been in existence for more than 40 years. Each year more than 500,000 individual news releases are distributed to 14,000 newspapers, television and radio stations subscribing to HTNR's free service, according to DMA
