The Defense Information Systems Agency conducted a five-day Cyber Command Readiness Inspection at Kirtland Air Force Base from Feb. 27 through March 2.

The inspection evaluated technical and non-technical components, including technologies, computer network directives and information assurance programs throughout Team Kirtland. The results were simply "outstanding" across Kirtland's networks.

"This was a total Team Kirtland effort," said Col. Donald Conley, 377th Mission Support Group commander. "From leadership to computer support teams to individual users, everyone played a part in achieving these ratings."

During the outbrief, the inspectors lauded Kirtland for network documentation, inspection preparation, and support from leadership as some of the best seen to date.

The Kirtland Communications Division, led by Sondra Harrington, as well as the Operations Flight and Information Assurance staff, led the way and worked with base leadership and organizational points of contact throughout the base to ensure compliance with DISA standards.

"Results such as these do not happen overnight; maintaining the base network security posture is a 24/7 process," said Tony Canales, 377th Communication Division operations flight chief and Dave Lee, Abacus site director.

The inspectors assessed components all over Kirtland AFB, including physical security practices and compliance.

"Simply 'awesome' -- that is the only way I can describe the effort from across the base to ensure this phenomenal result," said Col. John Kubinec, 377th Air Base Wing commander. "Cyber security is a cornerstone to our support of the nuclear enterprise and our mission partners. Everyone stepped up to do their part for the inspection," he added.
