377 LRS NCO receives Bronze Star Medal Published May 22, 2012 By John Cochran 377th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. -- A noncommissioned officer assigned to Kirtland AFB received a Bronze Star Medal in a ceremony on base Monday, May 21, for actions while deployed overseas. Tech. Sgt. David M. Perez, 377th Logistics Readiness Squadron, was recognized for exceptionally meritorious service as a convoy commander with the U.S. Army's 70th Medium Truck Detachment during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan and Operation New Dawn in Iraq. According to the award citation, Perez's exceptional leadership, professionalism and dedication to duty are in keeping with the finest standards of service, which greatly enhanced the mission capability of his unit. His contributions reflect great credit upon himself, the 364th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), the 1st Sustainment Command (Theater), the United States Air Force and the United States Army. The Bronze Star Medal, authorized by Executive Order No. 9419 on Feb. 4, 1944, is awarded to a person in any branch of the military service who, while serving in any capacity with the Armed Forces of the United States on or after December 7, 1941, shall have distinguished himself by heroic or meritorious achievement or service, not involving participation in aerial flight, in connection with military operations against an armed enemy.
