National PTSD Awareness Day coming up

The Kirtland Air Force Base Airman and Family Readiness Center will join Sandia National Laboratories for National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 27.

The event is open to everyone with base access. It will take place at the Steve Schiff Auditorium, Hardin Drive and 9th Street, east of Wyoming Boulevard. To reach the site, travel south on Wyoming Boulevard to Hardin Drive. Turn east on Hardin Drive and go to the first stop sign at 9th St. Turn north on 9th St., take the first right, look for signs, and enter nearby parking areas.

Highlights will include a panel discussion with a question-and-answer session; local information resources from SNL, Kirtland AFB, the University of New Mexico Veterans Resource Center and the New Mexico Department of Veterans Affairs; and a video about PTSD called "Invisible Wounds, Invisible Disabilities: The Realities of War."
