377 LRS Vehicle Ops keeps Team Kirtland rolling Published March 28, 2013 By Alan Hawes 377th Logistics Readiness Squadron KIRTLAND AFB, N.M. -- To save operations and maintenance costs for Fiscal Year 2013, the 377th Air Base Wing commander has directed certain 377 ABW units to park some government-owned vehicles. This savings measure doesn't come without an impact. To help mitigate it, the 377th Logistics Readiness Squadron's Deployment and Distribution Flight encourages units to take full advantage of the U-Drive-It fleet. Although we're feeling the effects of a tough fiscal environment, the UDI fleet remains a viable option to meet transportation requirements. The UDI fleet exists to enable critical logistics operations, and provides the 377 ABW the flexibility to continue executing effective logistics operations. Some of the vehicles in the fleet include sedans, pickups, minivans, 15-passenger vans, and cargo vehicles. Some services include: UDI vehicle support to compensate for current restricted vehicle use Additional vehicle support behind established unit authorizations Tractor-trailer support Wrecker operations Material-handling equipment (forklift operations, cargo trucks and specialized equipment) Mass-transit bus support Support for TDY personnel on official orders Distinguished visitor/protocol support Base taxi service (appointments, official work reasons, no dependents, no home-to-work issues) To submit a UDI request, contact the Vehicle Operations Control Center at 846-2297 or 377.vehicle.requests@kirtland.af.mil. Vehicle dispatchers review all requests for validity before approving. Our mission is to support the base and all mission partners assigned to it, so contact us for support with ground transportation. Our motor pool and services are here to keep Team Kirtland moving.
