Base leadership kicked off the installation’s 2018 Combined Federal Campaign with a pledge-signing ceremony Nov. 26, 2018, at the 377th Air Base Wing Headquarters.

The six-week campaign will run through Jan. 4, 2019 with a theme of “Show Some Love.” Col.  Richard Gibbs, 377th Air Base Wing commander, signed the pledge.

“Team Kirtland is a very generous installation community and we expect this campaign will be no different,” Gibbs said. “The holidays remind us of the importance of giving and supporting people in need. This is a great opportunity for our folks to donate to a favorite charity.”

According to the U.S. Office of Personal Management’s website, CFC’s mission is “to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.”

The goal for this year is to make 100 percent contact with everyone on the installation, according to Capt. Tamikka Williams, Kirtland Installation CFC manager.

“We’re going to show some love to our charities out there,” said Williams.

There are two ways to participate in the CFC. People can donate money to any of the approximately 9,000 charity organizations approved by the CFC or they can volunteer at any of the organizations that allow people to do so.

The final day donors can make a pledge to CFC is Jan. 11, 2019, which is the last day of the solicitation period for the overall campaign.

According to the OPM, “CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year.”
