KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. -- Kirtland’s water quality assurance team was awarded the Pretreatment Gold Award for the base’s efforts in maintaining an exceptional level of permit compliance.
The award was given to Kirtland by the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility for having 100 percent compliance with Wastewater Discharge Permit reporting requirements and having zero notices of violation.
“We have an excellent team that wants to do the right thing – we work every day to maximize the mission and minimize environmental impact,” said Melissa Clark, chief of environmental management. “The award is a testament to the hard work of numerous members of Team Kirtland.”
The environmental management team works to ensure Kirtland organizations and tenant units comply with all environmental regulations as part of our environmental commitment, to sustain the mission, and to protect the installation commander.
Clark said the Gold Award is the first step in the goal of achieve the Award of Excellence in the coming years.
