The 377th Medical Group provides operational and expeditionary medical and dental support to the 377th Air Base Wing, 58th Special Operations Wing, 150th Special Operations Wing of the New Mexico Air National Guard, and more than 100 mission partners. He leads a team of 300 military and civilian healthcare professionals providing care for 34,000 beneficiaries, manages a $26 million budget, and serves as the principal medical advisor to the 377th Air Base Wing Commander. He is responsible for providing comprehensive health services to maintain the highest degree of readiness for nuclear surety operations, contingency war mobilization, and Homeland Defense plans. After enlisting as a Health Services Management Apprentice in August of 1998, he promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant, before commissioning into the Medical Service Corps in 2003. Over his 26-year career, Col Fox has cultivated experiences in medical logistics, expeditionary medical operations,
personnel and administration, and group practice management at both the facility and headquarters level, prior to his time as a commander. He completed two squadron command assignments at Spangdahlem Air Base and Nellis Air Force Base, respectively. After Air War College at Maxwell AFB, he was the Chief, Health Care Operations Support Division, Defense Health Headquarters, Falls Church, Virginia. Colonel Fox has deployed three times—as a Battle Captain leading medical evacuation operations for Combined Joint Task Force-76, as an administrator in a Contingency Aeromedical Staging Facility, and as the lead for Patient Administration at Craig Joint Theater Hospital, Bagram, Afghanistan. He grew up all over the world, but calls San Antonio, Texas his “adopted hometown.” Steven is married to Megan Fox (formerly Mullins) and they have two daughters, Aubrey and Savannah.
