The Youth Center on Kirtland Air Force Base is hosting its annual Bootastic carnival Friday.

Bootastic will be 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Youth Center.

“It’s just a fun family event. It is fun to see and hear parents and kids laughing and having a good time,” said Youth Center Director of Youth Programs Larri-Lynn Torres. Torres is also one of the organizers for BOOTASTIC.

She added that costumes are encouraged for adults as well as children. This year the event will have carnival games, a cake walk, jump castles and a DJ. A new addition from previous years will be a haunted photo booth, which Torres said is going to have something exciting.

The carnival games are challenges like fishing for prizes and a ring toss. The Air National Guard is supplying the jump castles.

The Fire Department and the 377th Security Forces Squadron will have static displays for people to see and explore. There will also be informational booths and vendors, as well as trick-or-treating for the kids.

The carnival is free and the only costs will be food purchased on site from two booster clubs.

“The best part of BOOTASTIC is families enjoying themselves,” Torres said.
