Basic Allowance for Housing with dependents recertification

An Air Force-wide Basic Allowance for Housing recertification for Airmen currently receiving with-dependent rate BAH began March 1 and is scheduled to be completed by December.

Due to discrepancies found in the BAH recertification process during a recent Department of Defense-wide audit, the Air Force will conduct this one-time recertification to ensure members are getting paid the correct entitlements. Military members who are drawing "Single Rate" BAH will not be affected.

All other members will be individually notified when their windows open for recertification and will have 30 days from notification to recertify with the finance office. Failure to respond to the established suspense could result in a reduced BAH.

The current recertification windows are as follows:

March: 377th Security Forces Group
April and May: 58th Special Operations Wing
June: Tenant Units/Mission Partners
July: 377th Medical Group/Mission Support Group/Wing Staff Agencies
August: 377th Maintenance Group

In order to recertify, members must bring the appropriate source document, such as marriage certificate, birth certificate, or a court order showing custody of a dependent, to the finance office for review. In addition, a wet-signed AF Form 594 (application and authorization to start, stop or change basic allowance for quarters or dependency redetermination), must be completed. Digital signatures will not be valid.

Members may recertify prior to being officially notified, and those on deployment may recertify upon their return. Members who have an approved separation or retirement date on or before Dec. 31, are not required to recertify.

Recertification paperwork can be hand delivered to the Finance Office located in the Consolidated Support Building or sent via email to 377cpts.fmf.1@us.af.mil. For more information regarding BAH recertification, email 377cpts.fmf.1@us.af.mil.
