Nickolas Laffen Squadron: Air Force Operational Test & Evaluation Center Duty Title: NCOIC, Network Operations Hometown: Fargo, N.D. Goals: Complete his bachelor's degree in information technology security by August 2015. Once degree is achieved, Laffen plans on completing the Certified Information Systems Security Professional exam and start his master's degree in information technology security. Accomplishments: Laffen has been stationed at Kirtland since June 2014. He manages NIPR/SIPR server fleets ensuring applications are operational at the national level. He works supports 43 mission partners and $680 billion worth of programs. Also, he drove critical financial server backups enabling the AFOTEC contracting team to complete 906 actions valued at $12.3 million and headed an equipment turn-in, organizing relinquishment of 22 old servers allowing re-utilization of $200,000 of Air Force assets. He actively volunteers time supporting various charitable organizations on and off base and is an avid supporter of the Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity programs.
