Col. Justin Secrest assumed command of the 377th Air Base Wing from Col. Michael Power during a change of command ceremony at Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M., July 1, 2025.

Maj. Gen. Stacy J. Huser, Commander, Twentieth Air Force presided over the ceremony, symbolizing the transfer of authority and responsibility from Power to Secrest.

“Today is not just a ceremony, it’s a continuation of a legacy and a reaffirmation of our responsibility to the nation,” said Maj. Gen. Stacy J. Huser, Commander, Twentieth Air Force.

Secrest comes to Kirtland from F.E. Warren Air Force Base, where he served as the commander of the 90th Security Forces Group. As a career Air Force Law  Enforcement Officer, Secrest has served in various assignments in the Air Force, including tours in the Pacific and in Europe.

“I am so honored to be here and thankful and blessed to be able to keep serving. We’re excited because we know there’s an opportunity here to follow the awesome work of Mike and Courtney Power,” said Justin Secrest, the incoming 377th Air Base Wing and installation commander.

Power, who has led the wing and installation since June 2023, will continue his career in Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, as the Inspector General for Air Force Global Strike Command.

“I am proud to have been your commander and the Power family will always be cheering on the fighting tigers, wherever we are. Thank you,” said outgoing 377th Air Base Wing and installation commander Col. Michael Power.

During the ceremony, Power said his farewell to Team Kirtland and passed the wing’s guidon to Secrest, a tradition symbolizing the transfer of leadership.
