News Briefs, May 4 Published May 10, 2007 KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, New Mexico -- Base civilians win presidential awards Two Kirtland Air Force Research Laboratory civilians received presidential rank awards in a ceremony held April 20 at the Women's Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery. William L. Baker, AFRL's Directed Energy Directorate, received the 2006 Presidential Rank Award for Distinguished Senior Professional Award. Mr. Baker chairs the Department of Defense Reliance Panel for Directed Energy Weapons and coordinates all directed energy technology development in the DOD. David A. Hardy, AFRL's Space Vehicles Directorate, received a 2006 Presidential Award for Meritorious Senior Professional. Mr. Hardy was recognized for his contributions to the advancement of space science and technology toward maintaining and enhancing the preeminent position of the United States and in providing critical new space capabilities to the nation. Volunteers needed for triathlon Approximately 35-45 volunteers are needed to set up for the Jay Benson Triathlon May 12 and help during the on-base event May 13. A luncheon will be held for Airmen and civilians who volunteer for the event May 11. Volunteer should contact their unit's first sergeant.
