The New Mexico Air Force Ball scheduled for Sept. 14 at the Sandia Resort is rapidly approaching and will bring the three New Mexico Air Force bases together to celebrate 60 years of air power.

Sept. 14 events will kick off with a golf tournament at the Sandia Golf Club beginning at 8 a.m. and will continue throughout the day with indoor and outdoor exhibits at the facility from noon-5 p.m.

There is also a scheduled flyover by aircraft such as an F-117, an F-4, an F-16, a CV-22 and Air Force helicopters. The day's events will culminate with a by-invitation-only dinner banquet at 6 p.m. at the Sandia Resort for 1,000 members of New Mexico's military community, both servicemembers and civilians.

As part of the event, there will be more than 25 indoor and outdoor displays from Air Force entities which will show off their cutting-edge technological capabilities.

In conjunction with the displays, base and community organizations are asked to consider donating trinkets to be given to visitors as keepsakes of their visit to the public displays. Examples of items that have been donated so far include coins, pens, stress balls, mouse pads and history trading cards.

If you or your organization has a minimum of 25 items to contribute, contact Ken Moore at ken.moore@kirtland.af.mil.

The planning committee is also in need of approximately 20 easels for the displays. All easels will be returned after the event.

If you or your organization have easels that can be loaned from Sept. 13 to Sept. 17, contact Ted Harrison at 846-5556 or at Edward.Harrison@kirtland.af.mil.
More information about the New Mexico Air Force Ball will be available in future issues of the Nucleus.
