For security, e-mails are now plain text

  • Published
As of July 26, all e-mail messages received are displayed in plain text, regardless of formatting used to transmit, such as HTML or Rich Text Format.

However, network users can convert received e-mails back to the original format by clicking the "gray bar."

In a message converted from its original format, a bar will appear at the top of the message, just above the "From" line. If you left-click on that bar, you can select to display the message in its original format.

Network users or organizations using e-mail for formatted staffing products may need to alter their processes to accommodate this change. Some organizations have found the easiest way to make the adjustment is to convert all staffing documents to word documents and then include them in e-mails as attachments.

If an Outlook user sends an e-mail using OWA to an address that is NOT a *.mil, *.gov or *.edu address, any special formatting or colors used will be removed and the receiver will not be able to convert it back to HTML. The e-mail will be received as Plain Text.

As always, if you have any trouble contact your client support administrator.
