The Air Force Retiree Council is seeking an individual with interests and experience serving the retiree community to serve as the Area III representative.

The Air Force Retiree Council provides the link between members of the Air Force retiree community, including retirees, family members and surviving spouses living throughout the world, and the Air Force chief of staff. The council is made up of two co-chairman and members representing retirees by geographical areas in the United States and overseas. Kirtland AFB falls under Area III, which is comprises Arizona and New Mexico.

The representative position is currently held by retired Chief Master Sgt. Eladio L. Hernandez. His tour on the Air Force Retiree Council ends June 30. The council would like to name a new area representative by the beginning of 2008.

Officers, enlisted members and retirees are eligible for the position. The council is particularly interested in candidates that have shown previous involvement in retiree programs. Retiree council members who previously served as volunteers in Retiree Activities Offices have proven to be particularly effective because they are directly attuned to the concerns of the retiree community, though it is not required.

Each wing may nominate a representative; those interested in this position should contact the 377th Air Base Wing at 846-7377.
