The Kirtland Company Grade Officer Council continued its commitment to community service recently by participating in the Guest Chef Program at Albuquerque's Ronald McDonald House. The RMH provides reduced-price lodging for the families of children undergoing long-term treatment at nearby hospitals. When returning to the RMH from hospital visiting hours, the last thing families feel like doing is preparing dinner. The Guest Chef Program ensures that these families come "home" to a free meal and friendly faces.

On June 3, 10 CGOC volunteers and family members served as guest chefs, helping to make the Ronald McDonald House a "home away from home" by preparing and donating a homemade meal for 65 RMH residents. The volunteers enjoyed lending a helping hand to the families of the RMH while strengthening friendships within the CGO community. This event was the second in what they hope will be a long-term relationship with the Albuquerque RMH - CGOC volunteers also contributed 31 service hours to the organization in April, by spring cleaning and making breakfast burritos.

So far, CGOC volunteers have contributed more than 250 hours in similar community service projects throughout Albuquerque. In addition, the Council also aims to provide professional development and socialization/networking for CGOs through other events.

CGOs are welcome to meetings on the fourth Friday of every month at 3:30 p.m. in the Mountain View Club's Ground Zero Lounge. The next meeting is June 24.
