Kirtland AFB's Summer Bash is an annual morale-booster. This year's bash is July 23, from noon to 5 p.m., at Hardin Field. For many, the bash will be an alternative duty site, so expect a large turnout.

This family event will include more than 100 vendors, aircraft static displays, live bands, a family fun area featuring bouncy castles, and much more.

· In the middle of Hardin Field will be a special vehicle display - the "Show of Force Power Vehicle Show" will include bikes, motorcycles, cars and trucks. It's your chance to see race cars and the Pit Bull Monster truck up close, as well as vintage vehicles.
· Plenty of food vendors will line the field, providing foods from hot dogs to Thai specialties, and you can choose a snow cone or ice cream for dessert.
· The Mountain View Club will have two beer booths.
- Crafts, art and activity booths will also be in place.
- Information booths provide knowledge on health care, car care and animal welfare.
- Static displays include the CV-22, HH-60, Uh-1, Security Forces, Explosive Ordnance Disposal and the Museum of Military History, the Accessory Pit, Empowered Women, Sandia Speedway and aero modelers.
- Animal Rescue will be on the 7th Street side of Hardin Field. Visitors can adopt a pet on the spot. Pets are not allowed on the field, unless they are part of Summer Bash or newly adopted at the event.
- The sporting event area offers tug of war, a tire race, 3-legged race and more.

Pre-event entertainment starting at 10 a.m. will be provided by DJ T's Sound & Entertainment on the main stage. Local favorite band "Split Decision" will entertain from 12:30 to 1:30. A special performance by "Gooding," a nationally recognized band, will rock the big stage from 3 to 4:30.

Parking around Hardin Field is limited, so extra parking is available at the Chapel, a short walk to Hardin Field. Distinguished visitor, handicapped and sponsor parking will be available on 5th Street, behind the main stage.

To avoid parking the car altogether, ride your bike. Bike ABQ will operate a bicycle valet service. Cycle to the event and Bike ABQ will look after your bicycle for a small donation while you're at the Summer Bash.

Motorcycle parking will also be available on 5th Street along Hardin Field.

Summer Bash is July 23 from noon to 5 p.m. at Hardin Field. If you want to set up a booth, do a demonstration or static display, or volunteer, contact Joni VanMeir at 846-3351 or joni.vanmeir@kirtland.af.mil
