As a result of an agreement between Air Force Materiel Command and the American Federation of Government Employees Council 214, common access card readers will now be available to bargaining unit employees on a check out basis.

Since many Air Force Personnel Center websites, the Air Force Portal, and other Air Force websites have initiated CAC logon procedures, this change will enable access of these sites by employees from a personal computer at home.

CAC readers will be checked out to employees through the Network Control Center Helpdesk in Building 20604 beginning March 7 through March 18. The entrance to the building is through the door left of the flag pole. Employees will need to sign for the CAC reader and will be provided instructions on how to install the CAC reader program.

Employees who sign out CAC readers are solely responsible for installation of the software, outlined in the instructions. The NCC Helpdesk will not be available to assist employees with installation in any fashion.

Computers must have Vista or Windows 7 for the CAC reader to work properly.
