Contests to help voting abroad Published March 21, 2011 By Brian Brackens 377th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Kirtland Air Force Base, NM -- To encourage voter participation among Americans living abroad, the Federal Voting Assistance Program is sponsoring two contests for artwork and slogan ideas. The winning art and slogan will assist in a voter outreach campaign. The FVAP poster contest is accepting artwork that illustrates the importance of voting and/or how it feels to be an American citizen voting absentee from anywhere in the world. The goal of the artwork should be to inspire others to vote. The FVAP slogan contest asks participants to submit slogan ideas that inspire members of the military, their families and U.S. citizens living overseas to start or continue to participate in elections while away from home. Winners of each contest will receive a $10,000 prize as well as an invitation to the GI Film Festival in Washington, D.C., where they will present their winning entry. All artistic skill levels are encouraged to create and submit entries to the contests. The deadline is April 8. To submit an entry to the poster contest, visit http://challenge.gov/challenges/116.
