To promote its twice weekly playgroup, Family Advocacy, with help from the First Sergeant's Council, hosted a party Aug. 8 at the Kirtland Air Force Base outdoor pool.

Geared toward families with children age five and below, the playgroup gives parents a place to mingle while their little ones have the chance to interact and play in a positive, supervised learning environment.

"(The playgroup) provides good socialization and learning for the kids; and time out of the house for the parents," said Chrisan Smith, Family Advocacy's outreach program manager.

The playgroup meets Tuesdays at the chapel and Fridays at the Maxwell Child Development Center from 10:30 a.m. to noon; it is free and open to everyone with base access

Once a month, a military family life consultant gives a presentation to the playgroup.
