Team Kirtland offers junior Airmen a venue to express concerns to senior leadership through the Team Kirtland Junior Force Council.

"The JFC is an organization that develops and networks junior members on base and provides a direct line to senior leadership," said Stephanie Eddy, JFC president.

The Team Kirtland JFC was created following an Air Force Materiel Command initiative in 2004 to create groups supporting the interests of junior military and civilian personnel.

Team Kirtland members 35 and younger and with less than 10 years of federal work experience are eligible to join the JFC.

"We are the only organization on base that encompasses officers, enlisted and civilians," said Eddy.

In addition to addressing issues to leadership, the JFC is strongly engaged in community service, according to Roxanne Christian, JFC secretary and student employee at the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center.

"We're involved with helping homeless pets at Watermelon Mountain Ranch, collecting donations at the Commissary with KAFB First Shirts to feed needy Airmen and their families, distributing gifts to disadvantaged kids with the KAFB Fire Department for Christmas, and working with the City of Albuquerque Senior Affairs Department to clean up the yards of disabled veterans and seniors," she said.

The JFC president said the organization is seeking new members.

"I usually find that junior members have lots of new and unique perspectives. It's getting them to express those views openly that is hard," said Eddy. "This base is what we make of it, and we hope to make it a better place for everyone who works here."
The JFC is looking for activities to get involved in and opportunities to bring the junior force and senior force together, said Christian.

"If you have any ideas, suggestions or requests, please contact us and we'll do our very best to make it happen. We're a very young organization but we are eager to provide a place where junior members of KAFB have a voice. Our sincerest hope is that in bringing the junior force together, we can help to build a better Air Force that will continue to thrive," said Christian.
